Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Hatchlings spend a relatively long period of time as hatchlings, from 100 to 200 years, before they mature. Adolescence is usually marked by a hatchling's wings growing in, but not all breeds of dragons grow wings. Baby dragons all look very similar, but once they hit adolescence, they change very fast, they mature to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Two headed dragons are a special breed of dragons. They have two necks, two brains, two mouths, but one stomach and one main body. The two heads work usually together, but there are times when they will fight each other, attacking back and forth. They use their sharp teeth and wings to hunt large animals, and rarely eat plants. It is unknown what would happen if a two headed dragon were to mate with a one headed dragon, since it has never occurred. They only mate within their breed.

Though not a Lord, and simply named so, Dragonlord--along with Hunab K'u--takes command of this scroll. He has been bred to the Crone to produce one male offspring, that was abandoned for the greater good of lesser scrolls. He and many other Splits that reside on this particular scroll rarely breed to add dragons to their ranks, but instead, breed to give up their young. Dragonlord is a kindhearted dragon, despite his crude appearance and powerful namesake. He will admit that, though his name is strikingly handsome, it was inspired by an equally handsome song. A song, he says, that tells of seven wizards come to meet kings, dwarves, elves and--of course--dragonlords on a quest for salvation. The end of their journey, however, has yet to be decided! This dragon in particular is excited to hear the ending.
