Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Wake Me Up tends to oversleep every single event he's eager about attending. He's even been known to take a quick nap right before dinner and not wake up until midnight. Whenever he recovers and finds out that he's missed something important, Wake will throw a mini temper tantrum, which will usually result in him becoming so fatigued that he goes right back to sleep.
