When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. "Fhya'kahlii" means "greater beauty" and refers to this dragon's delight in and desire to enhance the beauty of her surroundings rather than the dragon herself.<br/>Fhya is an artist and a lover of beauty. She is never happier than when she is arranging rocks or coaxing coral to grow just so in one of her underwater gardens. Her most well-known work is the Great Sea Pipes of Katshian, where the currents flowing through her cultured coral create a haunting and beautiful music which can be heard both above and below the water. However, she believes her greatest accomplishment is the anemone bed in her favorite garden, which showcases her love for color and movement and has been an ongoing project for most of her life.
