Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Rondemion sighed and hoisted the line attached to his tail out of the water. He had been sitting on the river bank for nearly five hours now and not a single fish had bitten so far. The human sitting next to him had caught several big ones already. Grumbling, Rondemion checked his bait and recast. His mother had insisted he took up a hobby, something that would help him relate to humans better, but he felt like a fool.

Suddenly the man sitting next to him let out a cry and began battling with his rod, struggling to haul in his catch. After several minutes he managed to drag the fish out of the water and Rondemion's jaw dropped. The fish was twice the size of the man's arm.

The human looked up at the dragon and smiled, pleased with his catch, then he let out another cry and flipped headfirst into the water as Rondemion pushed him in.
