Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It spends its time pouncing on insects.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Hawk is utterly convinced that he's a slightly-shorter-than-average Black hatchling. Therefore he does everything to become the great fighter he's destined to be. He runs for two hours straight every morning, he lifts heavy things to increase his strength, he studies the spells of older dragons, and more than anything he fights. He fights against older hatchlings, he fights against humans, he fights against wild goats, and adult dragons. And if he can't find any of those he'll fight against shrubbery.

If others point out that he is in fact not a Black dragon but a Black Stripe dragon, Hawk just laughs—he has no stripes anywhere after all.
