Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

While no one knows for sure where Yiziny hides during the warm seasons of summer, spring, and fall, they are grateful and happy for her presence during the cheerful cold seasons of Christmas. It often seems that Yiziny has spent the entire year accumulating presents to give to all those in her herd, which seem to materialize overnight by the great Christmas tree... which also seemed to materialize overnight. No one quite asks where she gets these gifts, or where the sudden Christmas tree always comes from, knowing she will be evasive and vague about answering questions as she usually is. She and the other Christmas dragons often get along, or they do for all anyone else can see, before they disappear again in the early Spring.
