Royal Blue dragons are a nocturnal breed who prefer to live high in the mountains near slow-moving water that reflects the night sky. Although quite capable of defending themselves, they are peaceful by nature and will avoid a fight whenever possible.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Volksmusik is a rare specimen among the Royal Blues of his clan, a dragon who has absolutely no patience, interest, nor talent for the musical arts. In his clan his brethren are famous for their many and varied contributors to the Moonsilver Artists' Association and it seems as if any dragon he meets, once they learn what clan he's from, asks him what musical style would be his forte. This has turned Volksmusik from merely disinterested into downright hostile whenever anyone mentions music in his presence.
