Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Frozen Tea of the North prefers to be called Tea. Due to a strange birth defect, he never grew his wings, or grow larger than a hatchling. However, he is known to protect any egg with his life, even though he is small. Some people even call him 'The Watcher' because of his fierce desire to keep the eggs safe until they hatch. He even watches hatchlings, although once they grow bigger than he is, Tea will start to become lax, focusing more on the eggs and newborns.
