Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This charming little hatchling was stolen at a young age by an evil sorcerer who took it prisoner. Xjidcid's parents tried to fight the sorcerer but they couldn't succeed. Later, the sorcerer cursed Xjidcid to be a frozen hatchling forever and to inflict emotional and physical pain on other dragons (using tools of curious workmanship) just to see them cry. Xjidcid grew to love suffering and eternal pain, especially when the pain could be seen on other dragons. It maliciously feeds off of their blood and tears, being trained to do so by the evil sorcerer. Xjidcid has tried to escape from the sorcerer's castle, but the dark magic has kept it from doing so.
