Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Blackclaw, a powerful female in a male-dominated clan, had many problems as a hatchling.  The other black dragons, all male, excluded her, dominated her, and consistently underestimated her.  Of course, this all changed when they hit adolescence.  While the males all forgot their opinions, Blackclaw did not.  When they gave her their hearts, Blackclaw took them, broke them, and crushed them into dust.  Now, Blackclaw changes mates almost weekly, accepting, rejecting, and waiting as they foolishly try again.

     Noloch is probably the most important distinction in all of the Nightgaze clan.  It belongs exclusively to black dragons, who form the bulk of the Nightgaze army.  Powerful both in terms of magic and in terms of fighting, dragons of Noloch are feared throughout the land.
