Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Fighting Shadow was always a strange dragon. He always acted aggressive towards his shadow, resulting in his name. Sukari, his keeper, has always thought his actions towards his very own shadow were caused when he was a very young hatchling. Her theory was that he looked upon the cave was one winter when a large cackling fire was aflame. When he looked upon a wall, large flickering shadows danced eerily, frightening the ignorant hatchling. Not knowing that it was only shadows, Shadow attacked, as he would an intruder. Fighting Shadow's actions towards his shadow could never be explained with precise truth, because whenever the subject was brought up, he instantly knocked it back down.
