Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Verah is a rather odd character for a vine dragon. This goes beyond her unusual coloration, because she has yellow flowers as well as a strange temperament. She's absolutely terrified of the dark, and stubbornly refuses to burrow underground, much to the annoyance of her parents (and the amusement of just about everybody else in the cave). Instead, she prefers to hunt among the forest's understory, pretending to be an exotic fern until some unlucky prey wanders past.
