Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Silver dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Male silver dragons hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.
Lord Of Infinity And Eternity spends the good part of his days out of the weyr, observing the heavens. Though he enjoys flying with the skywings, he does not keep company with the storm dragons often, as they create too many clouds for him to be able to see the sun or stars. He has a great love for astronomy, and has built a great henge of stone near the entrance to the weyr, so that all may see what time of year or day it is. While most dragons tend to regard the sky as merely the air in which they play, bounded by a blue bowl, Lord Of Infinity And Eternity wonders about what lies beyond the reach of their wings. His mate, One Who Gives Joy Of The Heart, often flies with him in an attempt to touch the stars; they have flown very high above the clouds and found that the air is hard to breathe, but have not yet reached their goal.
