Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Sunrise dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.
Sunrise Shade enjoys spending his days bathing in the sun and enjoying his time with his mate, Daring Dreamer. He has a carefree and playful personality and can bring a laugh to even the most serious of creatures. Somewhere during his life someone put a spell upon him that makes anyone who looks at him has a clouded mind until they turn away. His mate seems immune to this for some reason though. Sometimes Sunrise Shade has been known to take his pranking to far. Sometimes his jokes have led to serious damage and consequences, but he almost never gets punished. Whenever someone tries to discipline him they look at him and forget what they were about to do because his spell clouds their mind. On a few occasions Wind Breather has managed to punish him because he is nearly blind and so Sunrise Shade's spell has no effect on him.
