Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cole was rescued from death by the wizard, Lynn.

Because of massive inbreeding, Cole is both small and sickly, though his mind is active and sharp. He doesn't leave the cave much, and never goes outside the protection of the hallow. Lynn has never asked why he was abandoned by his previous clan.

Because of his sickly nature, Dian sometimes has his claws full with seeing to his health. Cole tries to make sure the treatments are as few and far between as possible, not wanting to cause undue trouble.

Cole is polite but reserved, perhaps because he fears upsetting the other adults, which could lead to him being expelled from the clan. He has been known to 'sing' with Dian on occasion, and is friends with Talnari as they stay inside the cave for most of their waking hours.

Otherwise, his closet friend inside the clan is Black Rose, who is both a fellow black and abandoned hatchling. They are almost inseparable from each other, and have exchanged tidbits from their meals.
