Dark green dragons, once they mature, appear to become an entirely different species. However, this isn’t true. Rather, they burrow underground and get nutrients from their vines. These vines are sometimes referred to as Dragon Grass. These dragons are very violent, and will use their vines to capture, kill, and eat anything that moves, as well as nearby plants. Luckily, their range is limited and they cannot use magic. Dark green dragons tend to be easy to spot since they usually kill all plants around them and thus are usually surrounded by a large clearing.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Wibbly Wobbley Viney Winey is what is called a "pair-uh-DEE". Only his mate, Dr. Whom, seems to understand what that means—apparently, she is one too.

Most dragons are surprised the first time they see Viney above ground, using his vines to haul a minecart of ore from the ground behind himself. Unlike most dark green dragons, though, Viney is comfortable with his whole body visible, and tries hard not to be bothered by strangers staring at where his vines fuse into his back. This is perhaps because of the extensive time he spends wholly underground, extracting ore-rich rocks for the city's blacksmiths. When on the surface he loves to bask in full sun, and can occasionally be seen walking around town with Dr. Whom and their best friends, Infacras and Psican, or bringing unusual rocks he's found to Quer T. Uiop. Viney tends to be quite social when at the surface to balance out the time he spends in the mine with a few of his canaries. He keeps them for their sensitivity to mine gasses.
