Daydream Dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near Daydream Dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

In some ways, Varci could be described as a hopeless romantic. He's always working hard to please and surprise the Albino Dragon, Zmiea, but at the same time seems to always make a fool of himself whilst doing so. Unfortunately, the opportunities to surprise her are too few and far between, as he despises being so close to the ground and she to the sun. They do arrange to put up with it, but for the most part they stay apart for their own comfort.

In other ways, however, Varci is a bit of a prankster. His favourite pasttime is randomly dropping daydreams into the minds of unsuspecting humans who happen to walk past beneath him, and quite obviously finds the effects rather amusing. He lives under the rules of the female dragon Daquam.
