Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Seeming to be in a bitter feud with Titania, the female Lumina, other dragons mutter under their breath each time the male Gold vanishes to some "glen" as he calls it. While nicknamed Oberon, he tries to make up for the fact that he wants a little human boy that is a helper to Titania, fueling gossip that he has enlisted the help of "Puck" (the only paper dragon in the clan) to put the 'love-in-idleness' flower on her eyes to make her fall in love with a frozen hatchling that has a donkey's head, despite him denying it. The other dragons, meanwhile take no notice, causing him to earn a pompous and selfish reputation, even though he is kind and thoughtful. Some whisper that both he and Puck are planning something one Midsummer Night's Eve...
