Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Markus Stonesworthy likes to think of himself as passive, although others might just call him lazy. Although he is the son of Nethcara he is not heir to her throne, due mostly to the fact that he is a stone dragon and not a Nocturne dragon. The fact that Nethcara is his mother is also kept a tight secret and adds to the why Markus can not take the throne. With the exception of his father and mother, everyone thinks that he was brought in and adopted into the Stonesworthy family, even Markus. He doesn't get out much and when he does go out it is a long time before he returns. He doesn't like to participate in fights and avoids them whenever possible. When he can't avoid a fight, he let's his stone hide take the punishment until his foe is worn out and then walks away.
