When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nepok is a very content dragon, for the most part. The lake near his clan's cave that he lives in is big and deep, with lots of fish of different varieties and his favorite, eels. There's a reasonably shallow area near the beach that he can lie on and talk to his land friends. There's even an old shipwreck at the bottom of the lake that he likes to swim around in. However, he has one dream that he's afraid will never come true. One day, when he was just a hatchling, just swimming in the water, it sprinkled rain, just a little. When he looked up, he saw a glorious band of colors across the sky. Shortly after, he became confined to the lake, but he dreams of finding a way into the ocean and swimming to the end of that beautiful band.
