Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Loewenzahn is a friendly and curious hatchling, yet somehow most of the adults think him to be a pest. Maybe it has to do with the fact how he always pops up EVERYWHERE, no matter how well secured against hatchlings a certain area is, or maybe it's the fact how he always seems to leave a mess of white fluff (falling from his head) behind wherever he goes. No matter the reason, at least the other hatchlings love him.
