Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sitting high on her own perch above the floor of the cave, Xealous peers down on her keeper and the other dragons. Her glistening scales shine golden lights on the cave ceiling each time the sunlight beams through the cave entrance. She's very inquisitive and watchful and is mindful when those older than her speak, even though others of her kind tend to be very snooty. She very much enjoys heat and small talk so she tends to sunbathe or lie beside the Ember dragons. Her children are highly safe-guarded by her keeper and the Guardian dragons. The only time she ever saunters out of the cave is when she is with her keeper; however, during all other times she stays on her perch or lies on the cave floor with the Ember dragons. This is because her keeper values her more as a friend than a dragon and will do anything to keep her safe.
