Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Umr is one the oldest dragons in the Marble Cup Cavern, and so frequently regales the youngsters with anecdotes about his early life, all of which seem to begin with the words "when I were a hatchling". They then go on to explain that he had to fly ten miles through a blizzard to get the the river for a drink, against the wind both ways, and that modern hatchlings have no idea how good they have it. The youngsters are not particularly interested in these stories, especially since they've all heard about 30 different versions of it before, but he gets very grumpy if anyone talks or interrupts, and most have learned the hard way to stay quiet and pretend they find it all riveting.
