Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

While she is a formidable fighter, her primary battle-strength is her clever mind. She is smaller and not quite as strong as the male black dragons, but her speed and agility, both mental and physical, more than make up for the lack. Warrior women among the human communities nearby admire her greatly, and often bring her offerings in exchange for teachings—she is one of the few warrior dragons to be a successful teacher of human fighters as well as draconic. It is said among the local humans that when a female child destined to be a great fighter is born or hatched, whether that child be human or draconic, Mer-Neith comes to the birth and spreads her wings over the baby in benediction, blowing away with her magic all evil spirits who might weaken the child and blessing it with strength and skill.
