Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

He is the dragon equivalent to the typical annoying roommate that hogs all the soda. While he can be a blast to hang out with at social gatherings; he also has a horrible habit of eating more than his share of food and refusing to wash his filthy bed-sheets.

His landlord keeps threatening to kick him out because of all the bugs that gather around his impressive stack of half-empty soda cans.
