Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Unlike the other hatchlings, this one hatched with wings.

And look! Its back legs have become a second set of wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Brought up in captivity by a princess who wanted an exotic pet, the baby skywing called Miruvia had never learnt to fly and was terrified of heights. When her owner decided she would rather have a songbird, the little dragon was left to wander the world alone, and met a handsome water dragon named Berle. Learning of her fears and her handicap, Berle began teaching his new friend to use her wings in the water, letting her swim with him and learn how to turn and dip beneath the surface. Sooner or later, when he believes that "Mivvie" is ready, he will find a way of showing her how to transfer her newfound skills to her true domain-- the open sky. He hopes that day will not mean goodbye.
