As the nocturnal relative to Sunbeam Drakes, Moonglow Drakes are a secretive breed most active under the light of the moons and stars. They are wary of others, but are known to have incredible loyalty should their trust be won. Catching sight of Moonglow Drakes as they dance amid the moonlight is seen as a favorable omen by those they live near, and tamed individuals are common. They are slightly smaller than their cousins, averaging around the size of a cat.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

When Apep was a young hatchling he was fascinated with the sun. However, since he was hatched at night, the sun irritates his skin. As Apep grew up he built a resentment toward the sun. Plotting in the darkness, he decided that if he can't bask in the sun no one should. So every evening before the sun sets, he tries to fly as close as sun as he can so that he may destroy it. The other dragons have called him crazy for such a diluted dream. Apep refuses to listen them, and still tries to kill the sun.
