Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Feisty and energetic, whiptail dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

ZippingLine is a super fast female that is always on the move. She zips in and out of the other dragons and vows never to walk again. This does not bother the others because she is extremely nimble and never crashes no matter how fast she is running. Once, when she was on her first hunt she decided to walk to get closer before she sprung at the juiciest rabbit she had ever seen. But, sensing her approach, the rabbit streaked across the grass. She was unable to catch it and has been working on her speed ever since. It was a harsh winter after that and she wasn't able to find anything as delicious since then. ZippingLine is very spoiled and always gets the juiciest piece of meat that the Guardian dragons spare for her.
