Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Kabutomushi Kira-Suukou was frozen partway through her growth when her human discovered a very useful thing about her. She was too small to hunt or catch big game so she would hunt and catch beetles and bugs and even maggots instead. Seeing her succeed at catching these kinds of creepy crawly critters her human decided to freeze her so she would be useful as a living breathing bug catcher forever. Kabutomushi is not at all happy about it and is very ill-tempered as a result of this, and as a result of her ill temper she will attack anyone who gets near no matter who they are or how big they are. For that reason Kabutomushi is avoided by the rest of her clan, even its human. That makes her even more ill tempered. And so it goes on and on, a vicious circle of ill temper—resulting in being avoided resulting in even more ill temper.
