Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes to play in small piles of sand.

And look! Its wings have grown larger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ostsee is a friendly little hatchling who enjoys lying on the sand at the beach and listening to stories told by her elders. Ostsee also recently learned to decipher human script of the local language and has taken on "borrowing" books from the nearby human settlements. The humans probably wouldn't mind too much if the books didn't come back with ripped pages (from hatchling claws), bleached out ink (from the sun), and stained pages (from the salt water). That is IF they get the books back at all...
