Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

User Description

Behold, seeker of the dragon lore, Beltaine of the Day Glory drakes. Her name is that of an ancient Spring celebration on which, it is said, the Day Glory drakes dance in glades in the sunshine where at night the celebration fires will burn. Some people also suspect that these drakes have inspired tales about the dancing of sprites and other mythical creatures. Beltaine herself lives up to her breed in any way possible. She has been known to come very close to humans of her own accord, even landing on an outstretched arm and allowing the human to stroke her. But if she feels threatened, she can flit away so fast that some people believe that she can vanish into thin air.
