Storm Dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dionaka is often very sweet and kind to hatchlings. She loves to play with the weather while they are around and tells them frightening ghost stories. Dionaka has been interested in supernatural activity ever since she was a hatchling herself. She says she can hear voices of fallen ghost dragons whenever she sleeps. Merkauna, her older brother, thinks she is a daydreaming psychopath for this.

She is even a friend of one of her ghosts. She claims that her friend was a young nocturne dragon, who had fallen ill due to too many views. This dragon apparently had an owner who used him for the dreaded neglected experiments. So, he ended up dying of the deadly disease, later to become a ghost and "speak" with Dionaka in her dreams. It is a chill that she can never forget.
