Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tyska is a proud, elegant Black Alt dragon, who can be found soaring gracefully through starry skies almost every night. Her eyes are a bright, reflective green that makes for a piercing gaze, and her ink-black scales shine faintly with many colors, like an oil slick. Because of her beauty and the fact that she is one of the few of her kind, Black Alt, she considers it her duty to attempt to lay new Black Alt eggs. She does not care who the father is, but she loves only her mate, Neptune the Nebula Dragon.

She is a powerful magic user and fighter, but disdains violence, preferring to use her magic to heal, though she is not very good at it, or to make life easier for others. She also flies well, but prefers intellectual challenges to physical ones. She is logical, witty, and has a sharp tongue, not to mention a love of riddles, often talking in a strange, roundabout way. Often, she seems cold on her exterior, but she is actually very kind and caring.
