Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Iryth and her close friend Averil are the main fighting force in the family. They are responsible for ensuring that dragons from other clans do not encroach too far into the territory and to keep out any rivals during mating season.

Iryth is the younger and more hot-headed of the two. She always attacks first and doesnt bother asking questions, as there rarely is enough left to answer. She enjoys using her magic to poison and petrify her foes and will even sink her teeth deep into their flesh. Even without her magic she is a formidable fighter and will use any dirty trick to bring her adversary down. Her aggressive tactics have resulted in Averil having to pull her off her opponents and scold her.

Despite constantly being told off by her, Iryth adores Averil and is more protective of her then is she of her own young. She always sleeps by Averil's side and gets annoyed when Averil's mate tries to approach her.
