Corn-Colonel Leghorn has a very important mission among the Space Chickens: she seeks to establish peace—at least temporarily—with dragonkind. She intends for the agreement to last only until her compatriots develop mind-control so they can use dragons as "weapons of intergalactic war". However, Red Wheelbarrow—the gemshard with whom she is negotiating—is smart, putting clauses in her complex agreements to prevent the inevitable Space Chicken takeover. She believes that Sunny-bunny and her Channel X News flock is actually creating a technique for chickens to dominate others' minds, rather than putting on plays in front of a strange box that they believe will broadcast their activities to "viewers across the planet". She realizes what they are doing, but wholeheartedly believes it will lead to mind-control.

Few pay attention to what Corn-Colonel Legorn and Red Wheelbarrow are up to, because Space Chickens and those that take them seriously are inherently crazy.
