Silver Dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Silver females eat meat only when a male dragon brings it to them as part of courtship, though they are typically highly-independent. They possess an almost magical aura that lights up any place they are in, and are looked upon with awe by humans and animals alike.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Padmapani is one of the most popular dragons at the Breedery. She lairs in a small, simple den high up on the Breedery spire's north flank, dwelling there in meditative asceticism. But she is also commonly found on the grounds, enjoying the garden or talking quietly with other dragons who prize wisdom. Even the other silver females have great respect for her, without an ounce of jealousy, because she is so mild and sweet-tempered that no one ever feels she is taking on airs or talking down to them. Padmapani is flawlessly gracious, and never uses her magic except to bless others or improve their lives in some secret way.
