Avatars of Change are unpredictable, exuberant dragons whose unique connection to magic has saturated their entire bodies. It is said that possessing one of their iridescent scales can change one’s fate, and many have sought the favor of these dragons hoping to receive a scale as a gift.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Isowien Varan is an eccentric dragon who finds most things amusing (although it's not known why). She's outrageous and outlandish, as well as a quick talker and thinker. When angered, she's a force to be reckoned with. While Isowien is capable in all forms of magic, she seem to prefer using skills that are focused around the mind and mental manipulation. She's described as a "dream demon" in her clan and displays some of the characteristics of a demon including creating contracts with people or dragons that either contact or summon her. Isowien is known for her God-like abilities, such as omnipresence, meaning that she is everywhere and sees everything. She knows "lots of things," including the truth of many well known conspiracies as well as future events, especially if it is about her clan. All avatar of change dragons in the clan keep this information mostly to themselves, rarely sharing advice. Isowien moves around mostly by floating, and rarely stands on her own two feet.
