Antarean Dragons are peaceful creatures shrouded in mystery. They are primarily found in the desert where they get most of their energy from sunbathing. Their most notable traits are their highly reflective manes and the mysterious light emitted by their scales which fades from bright, nearly blinding yellow-white into dim red as the dragons get older. Legend claims that they are otherworldly beings that came to this world when a meteor struck.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Best known as Dusty among his peers, Grave Dust is quiet and introspective. Seen as aloof due to his tendency to disappear for weeks into the desert, he's a steadfast friend to those who get to know him. Preferring a handful of close friends, Dusty actively tries to avoid being treated as special like his strange-scaled mother. Despite this, he loves his parents and does what he can to visit them on occasion.

Dusty spends his free time working sand into glass. When he completes a piece, he'll either trade it to other dragons for pieces of their hoards, or give is away as a gift to friends, family, or potential mates. Time spent around the forge, doubled with his Grave ancestry, has fostered a habit of eating charcoal in Dusty, despite the fact that it grants him no sustenance.

Although he has a few other friends, Dusty spends most of his time with the loquacious Eros, the mischievous Coronus, and the pragmatic Calamity.
