When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Namu is perhaps the most powerful dragon of the clan in sheer physical strength, and she knows it. Her massive serpentine coils serve as excellent weapons for bringing down large watery prey, such as whales and giant squids. She hunts sparingly, since she must travel great distances to find the best meals, expending much of her energy in the voyage alone. So her talents are used mainly during the starving winter season, providing feasts of fatty meat in an otherwise difficult period.

When she isn't hunting, she's rather playful, using her large body to drench any thirsty and unsuspecting dragons. She enjoys stealing treasures and taunting their owners a good distance away from shore, as well as giving naughty hatchlings an unwelcome bath. Her closest friend appears to be Ori Kin, the paper dragon. She is the only clan member capable of following Namu great distances out to sea, by forming herself into an origami boat.
