Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Rims is an edgy dragon. He does a good job to keep it a secret that deep underground below his territory is an up-welling of dark mana, and the reason he farms rodents of unusual size is because they have a knack for finding and absorbing the trace amounts of liquid darkness that make it to the surface. Rims then butchers them and extracts the darkness which accumulates in the RoUS, distilling the mana into the many small crystals that comprise most of his hoard. The other dragons in his area have no idea; all they know is that Rims has a lot of darkness crystals. He is willing to trade an equal amount (by weight) of his crystals for ones of other elements.

There is some question whether the constant exposure to dark mana is what makes Rims so edgy, or if he is just naturally nervous, and wants to keep his treasure and secret safe. He has been known to kill dragons he suspects of trying to steal from him, and has the hide of some of them displayed on the walls of his cave as a warning.
