Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Pride is not a smart dragon. He is easily the least intelligent dragon that inhabits the abandoned castle in the middle of the sea. He doesn't understand most of what the other dragons who live there are talking about. He doesn't care about them either. All he really cares about is the treasury of the old castle. The riches of kings' past are his bed. He has even gathered more gold and gems to add to the immense collection. He gets very angry when other dragons try to enter his special room and will try to fight anyone who dares to touch his treasures. The peaceful dragons of the castle avoid him like the plague.
