Thunder Dragons are the masters of electricity. Their wings gather energy as they soar through the clouds, and when they clap their wings together they can create devastating arcs of lightning. They can stay airborne nearly indefinitely, landing only to sleep and breed; they catch their prey from the air and take moisture from the clouds. A thunder dragon’s roar is considered to be an omen of misfortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As an abandoned egg, Quffot Vhem Kxo Jb0 did not know her mother, and so was never taught how to use her magnificent powers. When the other dragons asked her why she never tried to use them, she simply shook her head, looked away and ignored them as if they were not there. She never really wanted to be laughed at but she was always happy with herself.

Then, one morning on her 20th birthday, something remarkable happened, something that would change her life forever—Quffot Vhem Kxo Jb0 awoke in a querulous mood. So mighty, she thundered out of the cave and, as if trying to mentally conflagrate herself, launched a blast of lightning into the sky that completely illuminated the surroundings.

Quffot Vhem Kxo Jb0 had learnt how to use her powers over this ordeal; as if some energetic force had been waiting for the right time and had something intended for her.
