Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gwenevere is a typical Hellfire Wyvern with a fiery personality and an icy heart. As a hatchling, Gwenevere chased down small deer and tackled them. Occasionally, Gwenevere would bring the deer back to the camp for the male dragons to feast upon. Her job as a Hellfire Wyvern is to not only protect the borders and hunt, but to char any dragon or dragoness who refuses to leave the boundaries. However, Gwenevere has a special responsibility as Rakorta's bodyguard. Gwenevere's mate is Marsh Fire, however the two rarely produce viable offspring due to the fact that Gwenevere's scales are so scorching hot that their mating is rarely successful. However, Gwenevere is, whether or not she is happy about the fact, a dragoness, and therefore a mother. The term mother in her case is used very loosely, because she delivers her eggs and them dumps them off onto Marsh Fire claiming they are his problem.
