Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.
Sandman is a playful yet almost impossible to train dragon. Too curious and distracted easily by nature he spends almost all of his time flying around and chasing after his own tail. His owner gave up trying to train him but keeps him as a "goofy pet". Sandman, given the name sleeps about half of the day and the other half he spends playing. He does not know how to hunt or fend for himself but rely on the other tenants in the castle for food, shelter and protection. He tend to annoy the fire Dragons due to his clueless nature.
