Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Onyx Babe is a frozen hatchling that was frozen due to the new egg give-away. He is a little bitter about being frozen, but does pretty well with it, using his cute hatchling looks to get what he wants. Onyx is pretty quiet, all in all, rarely leaving his dark little corner in the cave. Other hatchlings often pester him to play, but saying "no" is something he does all too well. Onyx, like all of the bigger dragons around him, often asks himself why he was abandoned. He is very close with his adopted younger brothers, Roy and Gus Babe. He hates the other hatchlings that grow up. Lately, Naomi Sand has taken him under her wing. She loves the heck out of him, and though he seems bitter, he secretly enjoys the attention. There is one dragon that he loves more than Naomi, though: his girlfriend Roxanne Gentry. He met Roxanne when she was a hatchling, and learned to love her. She was frozen so that she could spend the rest of her life with him. They are very happy together.
