Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Like the egg it hatched from, it is a very shiny gold.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

He was, in fact, bound in chains.

They weren't golden, however.

His original owner had many rares, and found out this little one was inbred. The owner was cruel to the little hatchling, and chained him to a tree near to the cave where the dragons stayed.

Pika, with the help of her Alt Black, Alternattiva, freed the hatchling from the chains. It was obvious the original owner didn't want the hatchling, as he was scrawny from being underfed. She decided to take him with her where he would be happier.
