Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Holly is one of the most rare and elusive Christmas dragons that visits Caves each year. She is well-aware that some dragons are over-awed to meet her but she keeps a solid head on her shoulders and quickly does her best to show them that she is no more special than the other holiday dragons that visit the Caves. She frequently has to remind her brother of that fact as well, since he enjoys the attention of the other dragons a little too much sometimes. Holly's favorite part of visiting new Caves each year is getting to know the new dragons who inhabit each location they visit. While Holly might sometimes wish for closer friendships with the dragons she visits, she is, for the most part, content to have a wide array of dragons that are pleased to see her each year.
