Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Twin sister to the powerful Daydream Yrime, both dragons were hatching when the Vampire Lachrymose descended on their nest in a fit of bloodlust. She sank her fangs into Comatose's egg, freeing the hatchling and ending her life. The twins' parents, hearing the distressed squeal of a hatched Yrime, came to their hatchlings' aid and arrived to see Lachrymose fleeing with one of their hatchlings grasped in her fangs. However, the hatchling had gained new life through vampirism.

Instead of abandoning the hatchling, Lachrymose raised her. Comatose became Lachrymose's protegee, but did not grow up ignorant to her origins. Quiet and reserved, Comatose spends most of her time traveling with Lachrymose and preventing her from damaging others during bloodlust. Like Yrime she is gifted with powerful dream-linked abilities. Occasionally she will enter a coma-like trance during which she experiences visions. Recently she has met the reanimated Arvil and has found herself quite curious about him.
