Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The egg was sick when it was left at the infirmary, and the little dragon within hatched weak, but with the brightest eyes the staff had ever seen.  Naming her Brita, they quickly got her on the road to recovery.  Her bright eyes were windows to an even brighter little spirit, and her joy at seeing the beauty in every slightest thing is a delight to all who meet her.  While her early life left her physical growth a little stunted, there are no limits for the spirit of beloved little Brita.
