Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The term "Stone Dragon" was often taken all too literally; meaning that they just sat in one spot and moved only to eat or breed. This was proven to be quite erroneous when field researchers approached the nest of a stone dragon.
Seeing that the mother was several meters away, they felt it safe to conduct their research. Imagine their surprise when the dragon suddenly charged at them with blinding speed. It was like a steam locomotive armed with teeth bearing down on them.
It was soon realized that the term "stone dragon" was a bit of a misnomer, the dragons scales are indeed very hard and almost impenetrable yet light enough to allow ease of movement. Often villages will collect the scales that are frequently shed and they use them to fashion lightweight armor, shields, tools and even roofing tiles.
Stone dragons do indeed fly but choose to leap from cliffs to gain added lift; they are not high altitude fliers though yet can fly at surprising speeds when needed.
Like many species o
